Third Street Elementary School Reviews

My son graduated from the Kindergarten program and I must say Mrs. Belet is an awesome teacher. She incorporates play time with learning. My son enjoyed working in the centers and also loved learning Spanish. He learned how to read and writes very well. His vocabulary increased tremendously. Parents are also welcomed to get involved which is very important.

The quality of academics at Third St. is fine for the 'middle of the road' child. The special services teachers are WONDERFUL! Unfortunately, there is nothing here for the 'gifted/talented' child. There is 2XL, which is the 'gifted and talented' program but it's a waste of time. The teacher quality is average with some teachers being much better than others. Unfortuately, the school system is very underfunded and we've had to raise taxes in order for to afford the basics. The school is crowded and over 100 years old so it isn't handicap accessible. Parent involvement is minimal. Teacher morale is relatively low in my opinion. The teachers do as well as they can with what they've been given, but with NJ lowering funding to it's schools I don't think things will get better any time soon.
