The Wilson, West Easton and Glendon districts also border directly on the city, and Wilson is the first, the largest, partly on the state of Pennsylvania and partly on the Pennsylvania State University. The greater east of the area includes Lafayette County and the communities of Lehigh Valley and West Lafayette. Nearly all Lafayette's sports teams participate in the Pennsylvania High School Athletic Association (PHSAA) and the Eastons Area School District, which serve more than 4,000 students in grades 7 through 12.

The minor league teams offer many freebies and special events, so check out the calendar beforehand. Lehigh Valley Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in the area, where zoo members get a 50% discount on admission.

Participating anglers must present a valid permit to catch the shad from the nearby Lehigh River and bring the catch to a specific cradle - a location on the Easton River. Fish caught on that day are not allowed and the angler must bring a permit for each day he catches.
