Easton is part of the Philadelphia DMA and includes the Easton metropolitan area, along with Allentown and Bethlehem, which includes Talbot County as well as parts of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lehigh and Montgomery counties. We also have a national public broadcasting subsidiary in Bethlehem and receive numerous radio and television stations from numerous local and regional radio stations in Pennsylvania and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Air travel to and from Easton is available from Lehigh Valley International Airport, located north of the city at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 10. The Wilson, West Eastons and Glendon boroughs are also right on our doorstep. In Wilson, the first and largest part is partially identical with the Northampton County School District, the second largest school district in Pennsylvania and the third largest in North America, but the Easten area has more than 1,000 schools with a total student population of more than 1.5 million. We are operated by the Easton Area School District and our schools are located within the Greater Easton Area School District.
Major federal, state and interstate highways serving Easton include Route 9, Route 10, PA Route 5, Pa. Route 6 and PA State Route 7, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Pennsylvania State Line and Interstate 95. Other major arterial roads in and around the city, to the east and west, are Butler Street (known as William Penn Highway west of Wilson) and Eastons Avenue, which approaches Bethlehem.
Today, the Lehigh Valley Railroad main line is the only major rail line that passes through Easton, and it runs head-to-head with NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Line, which ends at the intersection of Eastons Avenue and Route 9 downtown. In 1999, Norfolk Southern Railway bought and reacquired the Lehigh Line - and is now known as the North Atlantic Rail Line (NARL) and New Jersey Transit Line (NJT). To travel to EastON, you must take the NJ Transit Line or take a bus or train from Philadelphia or Philadelphia.
Downtown Easton is located at the confluence of the Lehigh River and the Delaware River and is a flat area surrounded by hills to the north, west and south. It is located on the east side of Eastons Avenue, east of Route 9 and west of Interstate 95.
